Ramsey's Space

Right now, I live in Oakland, California. My favorite time and money wasting activity (aside from eating) is flying gliders. When the bank balance starts getting a little low, I work as a consultant developing UNIX and Windows software. Random Logic is a joint venture between Loretta Willis, myself, and our new CEO. Loretta does all of the graphics and image manipulation around here, as well as photography, painting, programming, and being an all-around cool person. We get our high-bandwidth Internet fix from Virtual Sites, which is run by my long-time homey Geoff White (AKA Subcommander Lycos).

I've been working as a computer programmer for 25 years (which is probably 20 too many). I started working full-time after I was expelled (temporarily, it turned out) during my freshmen year at Worcester Polytechnic Institute for over-enthusiatic hacking of the schools PDP-10 timesharing computer. I've got a copy of The Adventures of the Lone Perkins which will give you a bit of the flavor of the era (warning: this is formatted for a genuine 132 column upper case only lineprinter). I had my first exposure to the Internet in 1976, working on software for the ARPAnet ELF nodes, which were used to connect the first CDC 7600 and Cray 1 computers to the net.
